The University of Lagos was today renamed The Moshood Abiola University of Lagos by President Goodluck Jonathan. The president made the announcement early this morning during The Democracy Day Nationwide address.

But don't they already have an MKO University? Students are right now protesting outside the school premises and have even moved to Yaba. Most roads around that area are blocked

Ono’s Diary: The Access Bank CEO Awards
Last Saturday, I sincerely had the pleasure of attending one of our biggest advertiser/supporter- Access Bank PLC CEO Awards.

The very grand event was held at the Expo Hall, Eko Hotel & Suites,Victoria Island Lagos. It was to celebrate excellence in the Access Bank Group.

As for my outfit, I wore a fushia pink one shoulder Issa London dress with cut-out detail at the back by Brazilian designer Daniella Helayel and sparkling jewels: precious stone large stone vintage brooch, cocktail ring form Butler & Wilson and Swarovski crystal bracelet.

I decided to colour block a bit with a pair of electric blue satin sandals and clutch bag both from Dune.

What do you think?

Many thanks to my handsome and dapper brother Tobore who agreed to be my special date for the night!

It was so much fun hanging with one of my coolest friends Lanre DaSilva Ajayi and her younger sister Femi.

The only thing I was not so happy about with the evening was not winning one of the three brand new cars that were given away in the lottery; International football star Osaze Odemwingie clearly had unlucky fingers with picking the right winning tickets! Lol… Plus I didn’t receive one of the cool Access Bank gift bags that had a Samsung Galaxy Tab….Oh well, enough of the venting here.

It was a fun night with performances from Whizz Kid (picture above), Tiwa Savage, Timi Dakolo, Darey and jokes from funny man Basket Mouth with delectable compère for the evening Frank Edoho- host of popular TV gaming show, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire”.

Well done Access Bank PLC!

Osaze Odemwingie moves into VGC Mansion

Wizkid with Osaze in Lagos last weekend
The 31-year-old Super Eagles and West Brom forward owns a flashy mansion in Paris, France, another one on Fulham Road, London, a mini estate in Benin, a mansion in GRA Benin, which he's planning to sell because of the lack of security there, and last but not the least his newly renovated mansion in VGC, Lekki. which will be his base whenever he's in town. You see why some ladies want to die there? lol.

The handsome footballer, who is set to wed his British girlfriend on June 2nd in London, is currently in Nigeria to put to finishing touches to his wedding preparation.

Did D'banj wear a F**k you Don Jazzy T.Shirt?

Seems so. A LIB reader sent me a mail last week telling me that he saw D'banj at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport wearing a 'F**k you Don Jazzy' blue T.shirt. I asked for a photo but he didn't have any, so I didn't bother using the story because it's kinda hard to believe without a photo, right? But a reporter has just confirmed to me that he also saw D'banj at the airport that same day wearing the blue T.shirt with the words boldly written in front of it. He said when he asked one of D'banj's people why the inscription, they laughed it off as a joke...

Please next time, take a photo....pictures tell a thousand words!

Uche Jombo's wedding photos exclusive to WOW! Magazine

Desmond Elliot and Uche Jombo in Puerto Rico
The reason it might be very difficult to see photos from Uche Jombo's wedding is because it's exclusive to WOW! Magazine, and the mag editors are making sure no photo gets out until they exclusively reveal it in the next edition of their magazine. Not only that, the magazine editor Julie Odia was Uche Jombo's maid of honour at her wedding, so they are closely guarding those photos.

WOW! Magazine, we shall see in this Lagos! I must find those photos, even if it's just one, we shall see! Lol

D'banj spotted on Nadia Buari's movie set in Ghana

I don't know if it's a serious relationship but there's something definitely going on between these two.

D'banj was in Ghana over the weekend for the Vodafone event that held on Friday May 11th and on Sunday May 13th, he pulled a Kanye. :-)

Y'all remember Kanye went to the set of Kim's photo shoot to support his girl some days ago? Well, just two days ago, D'banj was on the set of a movie being shot in Ghana, not as an actor, but to show support to his lady love, Nadia Buari, who's the lead actress in the movie titled Single and Married, produced by Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson.

My sources exclusively told me that D'banj was in a mansion where some scenes were being shot, for over two hours. And in between takes, Nadia would go sit with him and they'd talk for a while. D'banj eventually left, and a few minutes later, Nadia followed in her car.

This one na reliable eye witness report o, so believe it...:-). BTW, D'banj is in town. He came into Nigeria yesterday.

I Support Gay Marriage - Jay Z

Jay Z discussed the gay issue with CNN, saying President Obama's decision to come out in support of gay marriage was "the right thing to do."

He told CNN...
I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.

Their engagement ceremony will hold on Saturday May 26th, while the wedding proper will hold in December 2012.

Mystery behind baby born with Qur'an

This story went viral on the internet last week but I didn't put it here because I didn't believe it one bit. I still don't know how I feel about it now, but let's talk about it here. How in the world can this happen? Is it medically possible for a child to be born with Qur'an?

The baby was born on Monday May 7thth, 2012, at Victoria Moses Church in Mushin, to an unmarried mother. According to the child's mother, Kikelomo Ikori, 32, when the baby was delivered, they saw him holding something in his hand which was stained with blood, and after cleaning it, they discovered it was a mini Qur'an.

A day after the baby was born, hundreds of people stormed the resident of the new mum in Shonde street, Ijeshatedo, Surulere, wanting to see the baby with their own eyes. And since his birth, quite a number of Islamic scholars have traveled far and wide to see the baby. Some people believe it's real, some don't.

The baby's mother Kike, who was a christian before giving birth to the baby has now turned to a Muslim. The baby's daddy is a married man who left Kike and told her to abort the pregnancy when he found out she was pregnant, but Kike decided to keep the pregnancy.

The question now is; is this medically possible? Do you believe that this can happen?

Is Sauce Kid spoiling for a fight with Davido?

A recent post on micro blogging site, Twitter, by the rapper formerly known as Sauce Kid, has been generating mixed reactions.
In the post, Sinzu questioned the moral right of ‘som1’ performing his song on stage without permission. Though no names or the exact song were specified, many have implied that he was referring to teen pop sensation, Davido and his hit track  ‘Carolina’.
Is it ok 4 some1 else 2 perform ur song? Y will I get on stage n perform som1 else’s song? I Can’t! So why wil som1 do dat 2 me? B D judge’, reads the tweet from Sinzu.
There have been reports of Davido allegedly performing the rapper’s hit single, ‘Carolina’ in recent shows, fuelling talks of a conflict between the pair, which many suggest could end up pretty much the same way it did for singer AY.com and producer and pop artiste, Terry G.

‘I’m sorry’ – Muna apologises to Mode 9

Her management RMG sent out a statement that infuriated almost all those following the Mode 9-Muna debate.
Failing to apologise, or defend Muna’s actions, the unsigned, ill-written statement stopped short of insulting reporters and bloggers and indeed everyone discussing the issue. (An excerpt: ‘… this issue will not be resolved publicly and played out in the media or on blog pages for the amusement and enjoyment of gossip junkies and gist merchants. I’m sorry to disappoint those who are waiting with their mouths open, there will be no leaked emails, back and forth exclusive interviews or Twitter “gangsterisms”.  At least not from our side, and as you all know, Mode 9 is big a man enough not to subscribe to media hype over something that, quite rightly, he took as disrespectful but not life threatening.  This is Hip Hop, not the Civil War Part 2.’)
And Muna, apparently seeing that instead of quenching the heat, the statement only exacerbated things, last night apologised to Mode 9, using the platform where it all went viral – Twitter.
‘I want us to be cool like before, and as we were just before the Nokia show’ she wrote to Mode 9. ‘Pls accept my apology’.
‘Modey, I know we had a chat, and still face2face when I get back, but 2 put a stop to this madness. I’m sorry boo’.
Mode 9 was yet to respond to her tweets as at this morning. The rapper last tweeted two days ago. But insiders told us Muna and her team have reached out to him off Twitter.
