Mai Atafo

Mai Atafo is a name that most are familiar with in the African
fashion atmosphere and the self-named label has gone forward to clothe
several Nigerian celebrities. The collection showcased for the LFDW2013
was the Spring/Summer collection and featured loads of colour and a
dominant male-tailored effect.
Bridget Awosika
Bridget Awosika was her usual self and did justice to the collection
she showcased at the LFDW2013 with beautiful sheath dresses and fringe
details, long dresses with sheer fabric and slight graphic details and a
collection of light summer colours.
Lanre DaSilva Ajayi
LDA showcased pieces from her “Colour Storm” collection with
eye-popping prints and exquisite cuts. Lanre DaSilva Ajayi remains one
of the reliable Nigerian brands and there was no disappointment in her
new collection. What do you think?
Tiffany Amber
At the Lagos Fashion & Design Week, Tiffany Amber showcased her
latest collection called “Nirvana”. According to the Creative Director,
Folake Folarin-Coker, “When the whole world is looking to Africa for
inspiration I always likes to re-invent the original African aesthetic
while still remaining authentic and original without changing the DNA of
the brand. The Tie and die/Batik is a process that Tiffany Amber has
been working with since the launch of the label a decade and a half ago,
but this time we challenged ourselves on how we can use it.”
Odio Mimonet
Summer is what comes to mind seeing Odio Mimonet’s collection
showcased at the Lagos Fashion & Design Week. With vibrant hues like
red, blue, yellow as well as a splash of prints on the pieces, we
totally loved her collection.
Maki Oh
Amaka Osakwe of Maki Oh has continued to dazzle the fashion world
internationally and at home here in Nigeria. She infused pieces
previously showcased at New York Fashion Week 2013 which tell the story
of a hardworking African woman with fringe apron details and embedded
numbers.
Jewel By Lisa
Jewel By Lisa showcased her ultra cool new collection “Bicycles &
Acorns” with pieces that played up her usual love for prints. With a
fantastic infusion of colour even on her monochrome pieces, Lisa
Folawiyo showed how to infuse Nigerian fabrics and prints.
Iconic Invanity
Iconic Invanity had the “Elements” collection and is listed as one of
our favourite collections because it was showcasing pieces that were
simply fabulous. With a play on sheer lace as well as unique prints, the
collection was both simplistic and eye-catching. What do you think of
the designs?
Ella & Gabby
Ella & Gabby remains one of those labels that you just can’t but
love the creations from the Nigerian label run by Ada Mgbudem. The Ella
& Gabby collection showcased at the 2013 GTBank LFDW was a
continuation of her very much loved Autumn/Winter 2013 collection
“Tropical Sophistication” and the pieces came in universal and vibrant
colours and simple cuts.
Okunoren Twins
We don’t have a lot of men in the fashion industry, but we are glad
to recognize the Okunoren twins as a brand that we have come to love.
The menswear label featured a collection that showcased rock hard abs
models as well as simple pieces suitable for a variety of occasions.
