Donna Karan Steps Down at DKI

News broke late yesterday  that Donna Karan is stepping down as the chief designer of the brand she founded after 31 years at its helm. According to LVMH, which bought Donna Karan International in 2001, she’ll remain a close adviser. For the time being, it will not begin a search for a successor, and, in turn, the label’s fashion shows will be put on temporary hiatus. Karan, for her part, plans to devote more time to her Urban Zen company and foundation.

In response to reports that Miranda Kerr is in talks to renew her contract with Victoria’s Secret, the lingerie brand has released a statement to the contrary: “The recent reports regarding Victoria's Secret and Miranda Kerr signing a new contract are completely untrue, and we have no idea how they got reported. Victoria's Secret appreciates all that Miranda has done with the brand, and all the amazing things she continues to do with her own projects, but there are no plans, on the part of either party, to renew.” That settles that. According to Ian – “this collection is a result of the sort of staple menswear pieces I personally favour. A non chalant appeal , a shift in volume away from slim fitted pants and shirts and a complete detour from the notion of matching to more loose and less controlled elements echoing an early 70s vibe.“

With wool and cotton playing major roles as fabrics used, the collection’s pieces include sweatshirts, shirts, wraps and more with graphic motifs, neon colours, grey and navy blue used to create a colour combination that is less than conventional.
